Missions

There are always ministry opportunities for short or longer term mission work. Opportunities range from preaching, music, encouraging, teaching, to helping with businesses for believers to practical help with the house.

If you are interested we will get to know you and discuss where you can help. We will ask that you concur with our vision and statement of faith and that you be recommended by your church. You will need to provide funds for your transportation and for basic living expenses. We will help you make travel and housing arrangements.

If you are interested please let us know and we will provide you with details.

Financial opportunities

The main expenses of the Surbatovichs are covered by their sending church in cooperation with other like minded churches and individuals. You are invited to help with this regular support. Also, there are always needs and abundant opportunities for helping financially.

We are fully committed that Christians should be tithing to their local churches. Over and above that we present the following opportunities and invite you to be "fellow workers" with us through giving (3 John 8: Therefore we ought to support such men, that we may be fellow workers with the truth.).

Since most of our income is in dollars, our financial need has been dramatically increased in the past two years due to the devaluation of the dollar against the euro. Five years ago one dollar was worth €1.25, now one dollar is worth only €0.67; thus, we have effectively had our funds reduced by over 30%!

Areas for financial giving include:

  • Regular monthly giving for general support
  • House building for the Surbatovichs
  • Helping-Christians-to-Work projects
  • Literature translation, printing, and distribution
  • Church building project
  • Relief aid to impoverished families

If you live in the U.S., you may mail checks made out to: Mission to Montenegro and mail them to:

Faith Community Church
723 South D St
Oxnard CA 93030

If you do this, please email us to let us know stanisas@t-com.me

If you live outside the U.S. please email us at stanisas@t-com.me and we will give you bank transfer information.

All funds are accounted for and overseen by the elders at Faith Community Church and receipts are issued. 100% of funds go to the expenses of the ministry in Montenegro-nothing goes to "administrative surcharges."

Care packages and mail

Our address is:

Staniša Šurbatovich
Petra Komnenića b.b.
81400 Nikšić
Montenegro

We have a real problem with our mail being stolen if it is not sent registered or insured . Thus, in order to ensure that any mail you send to us actually arrives, it is best to insure it or send it registered - this maintains a "chain of custody" and we've rarely had problems with mail that has been sent insured or registered.

Unless a particular expensive piece of equipment is being mailed, we recommend insuring for a nominal amount, say $50.

Please mark boxes with the word "gift/dar."

When mailing care packages from the U.S., "Economy (Surface) Parcel Post" is generally the most cost effective - packages mailed in this manner usually arrive within 2-3 months. For books that are not very valuable, "M-bag" is quite affordable, though it is not insurable.

We understand that postage can cost more than the items themselves, yet it is a great blessing for us to receive "care packages." For churches, a great way of sending packages is to have individuals and families contribute an item or two and have the church mail the package.

Whenever you mail something to us, let us know-that way we can be expecting the package and can confirm its arrival and thank you. When we know something has been mailed, we can also let you know if it doesn't arrive so that you can follow-up with the post office. Sometimes brethren have mailed things to us and been disappointed that we did not acknowledge their care-the problem was that the package never arrived and we never knew the package had been sent.

The following are items that are not readily available here (or are extremely expensive) and are greatly appreciated for family use, ministry and hospitality. This list is maintained to indicate need - when we have sufficient stock of a particular item it is taken off the list.
