October 2024 Mission to Montenegro Newsletter

Grace and peace to you in the name of God our Father!

This is an on-the-go newsletter as we are currently in the States for the next three weeks; ergo, short and sweet!

In our absence, the Nikšić Church services are being spearheaded by co-elder Peter Stonelake who is overseeing and leading the meetings while several of the men take turns preaching.  Please pray for Peter and all our Nikšić brethren that this time apart would be a time of growth and deepening of faith, love, and commitment.

We had a good finish to our Evangelistic series on Oct. 6!  Again, we had non-members join in. This outreach provided great opportunities for our own people to lead bible-based discussions and participate in an evangelical outreach in a new way. We look forward to taking lessons learned, improving upon our first effort, and doing this again.

Please pray that God would open the eyes, ears, and hearts of all those who came, that they might continue on from hearing to receiving Christ and entering into abundant life.

The last weekend of Sept. we met with the pastor and several members of a Danish church situated in Copenhagen.  We were able to spend good time discussing our respective histories as churches and in ministry. We were able to introduce the Danish group to a number of core members of the NK church.

Because they (God!) timed it so well, they were able to be here for a typical morning service, enjoy Fellowship Lunch with the entire church, and to participate in our Sunday Evening Outreach.  Thus, they got a good look seeing first hand the joys and challenges of being a small church in a pioneering setting.

We look forward to a partnership of prayer, encouragement, and inspiration based upon our mutual love for Christ and His Church.  Pray that our holy desire comes to fruition.

We began our Stateside trip on Oct. 8 and it has been an adventure!  Beginning with the discovery that Stan accidentally left behind his laptop, combined with four flights marred by various delays, resulting in a missed connection which required an overnight stay in DC (3 hours sleep), it was an inauspicious start.

On the bright side, a kind stranger lent us his phone to call our friends to inform them of our delay and rebooked flight info.  We ultimately made it to CA with mind, body, and luggage intact.  And with the help of dear friends and DHL, the laptop made it here 2 days later.  Join us in giving thanks to God for these blessings.

Since then, we’ve accomplished a few errands, cemented details of our upcoming visits, and attended a wedding in Napa which was an absolute delight.

For the next two weeks we will travel and visit churches in Virginia, New York, Kentucky. We will also be at a Pastor's Conference (October 21-23) where Stan will preach for one of the sessions.  We hope to see a few more family members and friends as well.

Please pray that God would grant us traveling mercies with smooth flights; blessed times of fellowship with all the brethren; and continued good health.

Join us in giving thanks for all the good things the Lord is doing!  May His name be ever more glorified!

We so appreciate your earnest prayers, your sacrificial support, your quick notes and cards, and the blessing of working together for God's name to be exalted here in Montenegro.

One with you in Christ,
Stan and Vicki Surbatovich
